In 2011, I started my degree at Berklee College of Music, and graduated with a B.Mus (Summa Cum Laude) by 2014. I had attained a major in music education, a minor in conducting, and a Massachusetts teaching license. How did I finish a 4.5 year course in 3 years? Credit by exams (CBX). Most music schools allow incoming freshman and existing students to take an exam to test out of lower level core music classes. By doing so, I saved a lot of time and money!
Here's the cost breakdown:
- Credits saved: 32 credits.
- Cost per semester (16 credits max): $19,860
- Money saved: $39,720
